Biography


ISAAC GIMÉNEZ is a researcher, a college instructor and a translator who earned his Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures by the University of California Los Angeles in 2023. Currently working as a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at the UCLA Department of Spanish and Portuguese, he has published, presented and exhibited critical essays and poems in Brazil, the United States, Portugal, and Spain. 


Isaac's research focuses on corporality and performance Afro-Luso-Brazilian contemporary poetry. He is particularly interested in notions of authorship and group identification linked to uncreative, appropiative, and performative writing practices. 

Born and raised in Badajoz, a border town in Southern Spain, Isaac has lived in a handful of European countries doing all kinds of odd jobs before moving to Northeast Brazil and finally relocating to Southern California, where he currently resides.
